North Musi Rawas Regency Government Completes Five Suspension Bridges that were Broken Due to Flooding in 2024

The North Musi Rawas Regency Government of South Sumatra Province, trough the Public Works and Spatial Planning Agency, will complete five suspension bridges at the end of 2025.
The five bridges are the suspension bridge of Lubuk Kumbung Village in Karang Jaya District, the suspension bridge of Batu Gajah Village in Rupit District, the suspension bridge of Lesung Batu Village and Muara Kuis Village in Rawas Ulu District, which were destroyed by flash floods that hit North Musi Rawas Regency in 2024.

“The construction of these five suspension bridges is part of the North Musi Rawas Regency Government commitment to fulfilling its political promises and restoring vital infrastructure that serves as the main access for the community, especially in rural areas,” said Salahudin the head of Public Works and Spatial Planning Agency trough the head of the Road Development Division, Kesya, during an interview with the media in his office on Tuesday (01/20/26).

He explained that one of suspension bridge which is located in Lubuk Kumbung Village, Karang Jaya District, was funded through assistance from the Governor of South Sumatra in the 2025 fiscal year. Meanwhile, the other bridges were built using the 2025 North Musi Rawas Regency Regional Revenue and Expenditure Budget.

“five bridges that were destroyed by flooding have now been rebuilt, Alhamdulillah. This is the result of the hard work of the North Musi Rawas Regency Government in fulfilling the infrastructure needs of the public,” he explained.

He hopes that the completion of the suspension bridge will facilitate community mobility and support economic also educational activities, as well as improve connectivity between regions that were previously isolated.

“Alhamdulillah, at the end of 2025, all suspension bridges that were destroyed by floods in early 2024 have been rebuilt and are now ready for public use,” he said.

He added that the construction of the suspension bridge not only focused on physical completion, but also paid attention to safety and construction quality aspects so that the bridge could be used in the long term.
